PRAISE IN THE PARK ON PENTECOST SUNDAY JUNE 12TH

A United Outdoor Service was planned at 11.00am in The Pump Room Gardens, Leamington Spa
This was a Churches Together in the Leamington Area United Service. Unfortunately heavy rain – the first we have had for weeks and weeks – meant that the event had to take place in the nearby All Saints’ Parish Church.

None of the participating churches had  a morning service in their own church and each congregation was encouraged to join with other Christians in this event.

Rev. Jonathan Gee, who is chairman of Churches Together in Leamington, said,

“The churches in Leamington are united by our faith in Jesus Christ and want to celebrate that unity by worshipping together and praying for God’s blessing on our town”.

About 1,000 people from many of the town’s churches gathered together at 11 o’clock and every seat in the large church was occupied.

A lively band of musicians led the singing; The Revd. Jonathan Gee led the service and stories of God at work in Leamington were talked about by the Revd. Anne Hibbert (The Well), Andy Smith (Christians Against Poverty) and Rachel Gee (First Sunday).

This was a wonderful opportunity for the Christians in the town to come together to pray, praise and celebrate.

AFTERNOON TEA AT THE RRRITZ
(The Radford Road Ritz)

On Saturday June 4th at 3.00pm 70 people enjoyed Afternoon Tea at The RRRITZ.  Mr Derek Pope was a wonderful Maitre d’hote and each table had a hostess to serve tea to the guests. The Revd. John Harris and Mrs Margaret Height took turns to play the grand piano to create the right ambience for the occasion. The embroidered tablecloths and the china tea services were loaned by church friends and these added to the elegance and grandeur of the occasion. Each place setting had an attractive art deco place setting made by Kathy Spicer.

Delectable dainty sandwiches (cucumber; egg & cress; smoked salmon; soft cheese and chives and beef & mustard, followed by scones with jam & fresh cream and then mouthwatering home made cakes were served.

Everyone agreed it was a wonderful occasion which raised money for our Mission Fund C.O.R.D.
