What a wonderful morning we had when we enjoyed our Children’s Easter workshop. There was a delightful friendly atmosphere as children and parents arrived and started to create the Garden of Gethsemene by painting boxes to represent rocks and making palm trees from cardboard tubes and newspaper leaves. We had story telling, drama, crafts, and singing and even made an Easter garden in a wheelbarrow.

The children were eager to hear and to act the story of Jesus’ last days in Jerusalem and the morning concluded with everyone taking part in the Last Supper. The children took home all the models they had made and were given a Real Easter Egg with a small booklet of the Easter story.

Thank you to Jane for the planning and organisation of the day and thank you too to  all the willing helpers for their input into a most successful morning.

EASTER MORNING SERVICE.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The sun shone on Easter Day and people came to church to praise God and to remember the significance of the day.

CHRIST IS RISEN ALLELUIA!

During the service the cross which had been constructed from the trunk of the Christmas tree and used during Lent to remind people of Christ’s suffering in the days leading to the crucifixion, was transformed into a Living Cross. The congregation brought small bunches of spring flowers and  suddenly the bare stark cross was decorated with colourful spring flowers to remind us all of the presence of the Living God.

The service concluded with Holy Communion.

MOTHERING SUNDAY 2014

SUNDAY MARCH 30TH 2014 AT 10.30AM

Mothers Day daffodilsWe had a wonderful Mothering Day Service at Radford Road  which was led by Andy Laird and was enjoyed by all. Margaret played the grand piano, George was on the drums and Andy strummed on his guitar. The children from the Uniformed  Organisations enjoyed the percussion instruments which were available.

Daffodils were given to all the ladies to celebrate the day.

During the service we focussed on some famous mothers (Marge Simpson; the late Queen Mother; Mary, the mother of Jesus; Victoria Beckham; Mother Theresa who, although not a mother herself cared for thousands of poor and needy people.

An inflated world globe was passed round the congregation whilst we centred on countries in need of our prayers.

We thought about different types of light and the Bible being the light by which we should live. The Bible teaches us that we should care for others in the same way as a mother cares for her child and that we should help others to see clearly and to stick to the path which Jesus showed us.
