Over 1000 Christians from many different churches in Leamington gathered together to praise God in the open air.

The outdoor service was held at the bandstand in the Pump Room Gardens at 11.00am. People brought chairs, rugs and some had a picnic and all sang joyfully as they worshipped.

People from all the churches in Leamington were welcomed to the service by the Revd. Jonathan Jee of St Paul’s Church. The congregation joined in songs, choruses and prayers and short presentations were given by three of the several inter-church ministries in the town. We heard of how the Well Christian Healing Centre was moving its premises and raising funds to accomplish this;  how Thrive Youth Ministries were working with young people and children  in the area and Man Up were endeavouring to bring the Christian Message to men’s groups in the town.

Darren Mitchell  of Christians Against Poverty and a member of St. Mary’s spoke of his difficult childhood, his feelings of being unloved and unwanted, his life of drink, drugs and crime and his conversion and life as a Christian.

At the end of the service, several groups enjoyed picnics in the park in glorious sunshine.
