All Are Welcome Christmas Party

On December 19th the group celebrated with a Christmas party. Everyone wore Christmas jumpers and hats and the tablecloths were replaced with Christmas themed coverings. We all enjoyed warm mince pies (as well as the normal toasted teacakes) and we had a special Christmas quiz and games. Everyone was given a small Christmas gift.

Next year we will continue to meet on Tuesday mornings and as well as enjoying each others’ company and pursuing our normal activities, we also plan to start a Craft table where those who wish can undertake making different crafts and having fun together. Our next meeting is the first Tuesday in January. See you there!

Christingle Service, Parade Sunday and A Christening – all in one!

The orange represents the world; the cocktail sticks represent all corners of the world, the sweeties represent the fruits of the earth, the candle represents Jesus, the Light of the World and the red ribbon signified Jesus’ blood shed for us all.

What a busy morning it was! The church was packed with Brownies and Guides (who had had a sleep-over the previous night!), their parents, a large group who had come for the christening of Rose Simone Marçais, granddaughter of Jean Young.

We were pleased to welcome Rose’s parents, Alex and Guillame and their other children Louis and Clémence who were baptised at Radford Road Church in 2017 as well as other family members and friends and others who were with us for our Christingle Service. As the Marçais family live in France and had come to England especially for this service, the Lord’s Prayer was said in both French and English. The Revd. James Church led the lively service and it was much enjoyed by all those present. The children particularly enjoyed singing “This Little Light of Mine” and joined in the singing and the actions with gusto. The children made Christingles and took great care with the lit candles!
