CHRISTINGLE SERVICE ON DECEMBER 13TH
.
The service was well attended and everyone enjoyed making the Christingles to remind them that Jesus came to the world (orange) and is with us throughout the seasons (sticks with fruit and sweets), was crucified (red ribbon), and He is the Light of the world (candle).

CHRISTIAN AID SINGS CAROLS AT MORRISON’S
,
On December 19th the local Christian Aid Committee organised the singing of carols for an hour in the Morrison’s store.
Many shoppers said how much they appreciated the live music in contrast to the canned carols usually heard in the shops and malls of our town.
The public were generous in the monetary donations they made and the proceeds of £123.96 were given to Christian Aid.
This was a way of showing the true meaning of Christmas to those who rarely go to church and, at the same time, benefitting those in other countries who have little.

SERVICE OF CAROLS AND READINGS
THE FOURTH SUNDAY IN ADVENT

The Revd. Andy Laird led this service which told the Christmas story of the angel appearing to Mary; the news that Elizabeth, too, would have a baby; the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem; the birth of Jesus and the visit of the shepherds and Magi.
The Bible passages were read by members of the congregation and some of the carols had been chosen by church members.
Each Bible passage was followed by a brief summarisation and focussed on the relevance of Christ’s birth to us, today.
June and Edna celebrated their birthdays today. .
