COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS TREE

Our Community Christmas Tree was placed in position outside the church and we are grateful for the provision of the tree by a friend of the church for this new project.

We invited members of our congregation, people who use our premises and members of our local community to each place a bauble or home made decoration on our tree.

In this busy, multicultural area of the town there are a lot of businesses, homes, bed- sits and student accommodation and we anticipated that this project would bring people together and encourage a true community spirit.

A book was placed in the vestibule into which those who added a decoration could convey a message of greetings to the community. We planned to have the church open on some mornings and afternoons when drinks would be served and people could chat to visitors.

The congregation was encouraged to make this new venture known to as many people as possible.

This  tree was for the local community and helped to spread the true meaning of Christmas of Love, Hope and Peace amongst local people.

Even a group of 12 Japanese tourists stopped by to admire the tree and commented about the appropriateness of the project! Who knows, perhaps the idea will be copied in Japan!

.

People put baubles on the tree and admired it.The individual baubles and decorations are delightful.

The project was reported in our local paper, The Leamington Spa Courier.

The book recording messages of goodwill to everyone in the local community, has lots of hand written sentiments written on pre-designed Christmas tree shapes. We are all delighted with the community’s response to this project.
