JESSE TREE

The Jesse Tree is named from Isaiah 11:1: “A shoot will spring forth from the stump of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots will bear fruit.” The Jesse Tree represents the family tree, or genealogy of Jesus Christ. It tells the story of God’s salvation plan, beginning with creation and continuing through the Old Testament, to the coming of the Messiah. Harris School in Rugby created designs for the ornaments for each day of Advent, and BibleLands-supported Hope school near Bethlehem in turning the images into beautiful olive-wood symbols. Each day of Advent an ornamentwas added to the Jesse Tree. Each of these symbolic ornaments  represents a prophecy foretelling Christ’s coming.
