PRAISE IN THE PARK 2013

PRAISE IN THE PARK SUNDAY MAY 19TH

Churches Together in Leamington again held an outdoor service in the Pump Room Gardens on Pentecost Sunday. It was estimated that 1400 people enjoyed fellowship together on a lovely summer morning. People took chairs and rugs for informal worship around the bandstand.

The Revd. Jonathan Jee, vicar of St. Paul’s Church, led the outdoor service which focussed on the Spirit of God coming to the people of Leamington as it did to the first Christians over 2000 years ago. His text was

‘You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. and you will be my witness in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth’. Acts 1:8

Everyone enjoyed the chorus songs and the children joined exuberantly in the action songs.

Anne Hibbert spoke of the healing services of The Well and how people’s lives had been changed by the power of prayer; prayers were said for the Street Pastors who had started their work on the streets of Leamington only the night before; Jonathan Chilvers spoke of the hope of setting up a Food Bank and appealed for suitable storage premises.  Street Pastors, Leamington Christian Mission, Thrive Youth Ministries and The Well had tents displaying their work.
